A convicted New Milford man has been arrested for shooting a mother of three in her New Haven home, after being ordered by the mother’s boyfriend to kill her in January.
David Nieman, 25, of Spring Street, was hired by Terquinten Fulton, of New Haven to kill the 27-year-old mother of his three children as a part of a gang initiation, police said.
On Jan. 31, Nieman broke into the mother’s New Haven apartment and shot her in the thigh as she tried to run from the intruder.
New Haven police receive a break, when a woman that Nieman went on a date with, went to police after Nieman stole money from her, police said. The woman told police that Nieman confided in her that he recently shot a woman in New Haven, police said.
New Milford police arrested Nieman on Feb. 6 during an attempted burglary in New Milford, police said. When turned over to New Haven police, Niemen admitted to shooting the mother, but said he was told to do it by Fulton.
Neimen said that Fulton had given him a gun and was instructed to shoot the mother as an initiation into a gang, police said.
Niemen was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a fire arm, home invasion and first-degree conspiracy to commit assault and home invasion.
