NEWTOWN — A juvenile was arrested Monday after police said the individual left a threatening note at Newtown High School.
Police said a school staff member found the note at about 8:15 a.m., which prompted the school to briefly close the campus to visitors while police investigated.
The threat was determined to be isolated and not credible and no one was in danger, according to the report.
The suspect was charged with first-degree threatening and first-degree falsely reporting an incident. Police said the juvenile was released to the parents and is due in Danbury juvenile court March 9.
The person has not been named for being under the age of 18 and police also have not released the individual’s gender or age.
It’s still not clear what the nature of the threat was, but this is not the first school threat reported in the area this month.
At Danbury High School, a threat was written with a felt marker in a boys bathroom indicated a shooting would occur at the school last Wednesday. That threat also was not credible.
