A car drove into the front window of the 109 Cheese & Wine specialty food shop around noon on Wednesday, according to Ridgefield police, but no injuries were reported.
Linda Rost of Ridgefield was reportedly pulling her 2013 Subaru Impreza into a marked parking space when her foot slipped off the brake pedal and hit the gas, jolting the car over a concrete barrier and into the window.
The 68-year-old driver was not charged with a crime or given a ticket, and her car was towed away.
The shop, which is located at 109 Danbury Road and is part of Copps Hill Commons, closed for the day. But the shop’s Twitter account later said: “thankful no one was hurt. We will be repairing and reopening as soon as possible. #Ridgefieldstrong”
“The cheese took the hit,” the shop later tweeted The News-Times. “We hope to be open for the weekend.”
