Art Colley, who resigned from the Brookfield school district last February amid reports of overspending, was arrested Monday morning for unrelated charges of larceny and forgery, police said.
He was brought in on second-degree larceny charges for defrauding a public community, and third-degree forgery charges. Both charges involved Brookfield school district documents, according to Brookfield Chief of Police Robin Montgomery.
Colley was released on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 10 a.m. on March 20.
Colley was the district’s finance manager until he resigned on Feb. 11, 2014, after an audit showed overspending of $1.175 million the two prior budget years. The incident Colley was charged for occurred three days later, police said.
