Ridgefield voters approved selling five acres of property at the Schlumberger-Doll Research Center to developer Stephen Zemo for $1.25 million at a Town Meeting this week.
Zemo plans to build a boutique hotel with a ballroom/catering service; a self-storage facility; and a mixed-use building with offices and apartments on the land.
The vote turned out to controversial because moderator Ed Tyrrell used a voice vote to decide the outcome, rather than letting town residents cast paper ballots.
