BROOKFIELD — In a special meeting Wednesday morning, the Board of Education voted to hire Bethany Superintendent John Barile to the same position with the Brookfield schools.
Barile will replace Interim Superintendent Ralph Iassogna, who was with the district since August following the firing of Anthony Bivona.
The board approved Barile’s hire, 6-1, with Harold Shaker the only dissenting vote.
“I consider it a privilege to work on behalf of the children and citizens of Brookfield, and commit that I will do all that I can to ensure a quality education for every child,” Barile said in a statement released by the district. “I look forward to collaborating with school personnel, students, parents, town officials, and community members to develop a shared vision.”
Barile has been the superintendent with Bethany — a pre-K through grade 6 district — since Jan. 1, 2013.
