DANBURY – An afternoon storm knocked out power to 180 addresses and was slowing the commute home from work at two locations in the city and in nearby Ridgefield because of downed wires.
In Danbury an accident at Pembroke and Padanaram roads brought down a utility line when one of the vehicles involved struck a pole, police said. A downed power line was also reported at 148 Great Plain Road.
In Ridgefield, where 14 addresses were without power at 5 p.m., a power line was down at Ridgebury Road near Old Stagecoach Road, police said.
Roads were passable in Bethel, Brookfield, and Newtown, police said
Eversource Energy reported 120 power outages in Bethel, 66 outages in Brookfield, and 25 outages in Newtown.
A severe thunderstorm watch and a flash flood warning remains in effect for the greater Danbury area until 7 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
