CARMEL, N.Y. — No injuries were reported after a fire left a Mahopac residence temporarily uninhabitable Sunday morning, police said.
Carmel police received a call about a structure fire at 255 Austin Road, just after 9:50 a.m., and the first officer at the scene confirmed a chimney fire was in progress.
Members of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department responded were able to extinguish the blaze, but town building inspector Michael Carnazza said the home couldn’t be occupied until repairs were made.
The fire isn’t believed to be suspicious but the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team is investigating, police said.
